This guarantees one thing above all in winter: snow and action guaranteed! Whether skiing, tobogganing, cross-country skiing or simply a dreamy winter walk in crystal clear mountain air, everyone gets their money’s worth here. Our Hotel Drachenburg is located close to the nature reserve and you can quickly reach the lakes.
Skiing and snowboarding in Mittenwald winter
Ski and snowboard for children, beginners, families and professionals. There’s plenty of skiing fun to be had at the family ski area on the Kranzberg (1,390 m). It is located directly above Mittenwald and only 10 minutes away from Wallgau and Krün.
Ski schools, ski and equipment rental, lots of ski lifts and ski routes are available to our guests. The guest ski bus takes you to the skiing area in Mittenwald free of charge.
Our Mittenwald winter – Cross-country skiing
Whether sun, panorama, Canada, Riedboden cross-country ski trail,… – in Krün, Wallgau and Mittenwald, to name just a few of the countless cross-country trails in Alpenwelt Karwendel. We have trails for every ability level, for children as well as seniors.

Mittenwald winter – Snow Tours in the Karwendel Mountains
We offer guided snow tours in Mittenwald. From our Hotel Drachenburg you can quickly hike to the nearby lakes by yourself as well.
You can hire snowshoes and try them out for yourself. There are signposted snowshoe routes all over the Karwendel. It is important to make sure that you do not enter avalanche-prone areas.
Ice skating and tobogganing in Mittenwald winter
When there is enough snow, the slope of the Kranzberg offers a groomed toboggan run from the top station to the bottom station of the chairlift. The run is 1.5 kilometres long and the difference in altitude is 225 metres. Toboggans can be rented at the ticket office at the bottom station of the chairlift. You are also welcome to rent sledges at our reception for a fee.
You can ice skate on the natural ice rink or in the Mittenwald ice stadium.
